Residency Engineer (Server & Storage)

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Residency Engineer (Storage) to provide operational support within a Dell Technologies environment. This is a customer-facing role focused on ensuring the stability, performance, and continuous improvement of storage infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Administration

  • Monitor, review, and manage storage infrastructure within a Dell environment
  • Handle user requests and service tickets
  • Manage and review system and storage logs
  • Generate regular operational and performance reports

Problem Management

  • Isolate, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents
  • Coordinate service incidents and act as a point of escalation
  • Open and manage support tickets on behalf of the customer (including vendor coordination)
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and problem reviews

Change Management

  • Support software and firmware upgrades across storage platforms
  • Implement approved change requests
  • Assist in documentation of policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Support and monitor migration activities

Continual Service Improvement

  • Recommend process and operational improvements
  • Share industry and cross-engagement best practices
  • Provide performance tuning and optimization recommendations

Key Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure or storage support roles
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in storage or enterprise infrastructure environments
  • Experience with Dell EMC storage platforms (e.g., PowerStore, Unity, PowerMax, or PowerScale/Isilon) OR equivalent enterprise storage technologies (e.g., NetApp, HPE, Hitachi)
  • Ability and willingness to work within a Dell Technologies environment
  • Experience handling incident, problem, and change management (ITIL knowledge preferred)
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis
  • Experience supporting firmware upgrades, patching, and system maintenance
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and log analysis
